California Brawlin

Well folks, this video goes right into the category of Brawl of the Year candidate.  Watch it unfold.

This one had everything.

Starts with a big hit.  Progresses to one fight and before you know it everybody has a partner.  Things seem to be going smoothly until the unwritten rule of no going after a player already involved with another is broken.  Actually it's not even unwritten.  It's a fuckin rule.

Either way the outcome was classic.  All 12 skaters on the ice received fighting majors and all but the two original fighters were ejected.  One brawl, 12 fighting majors, 10 ejections.  Going to be hard to top this one.

  1. Wow, that was amazing! From the hit to the fights, I definitely agree this could be fight of the year. Even the commentary provided great enthusiasm and analysis of the situation. All around great video! Wonder how the 10 ejections effected the rest of the game. Of course one time that we do not do any hockey trivia and something like this happens.

  2. Both teams actually ended up finishing the game with around 7 players. There were another six fighting majors and four game misconducts after this.

  3. At least it happened toward the end. I can only imagine how drained the 7 remaining players would have been if it took place near the beginning. I saw 278 combined penalty minutes! In your time doing stats, have you ever seen more than that? What is the most you can recall seeing?

  4. I have seen more than that. I will have to see how many other games this year compete with that. It's got to be within the professional rankings from ECHL on up or even CHL.
